Kid User Rules

Kids, remember, keep your parents involved! We (that would be, YTV Canada, Inc.) would love it if you would participate in this site, but if you do, be aware that there are "official" rules (we call them the Terms of Use) that apply. You should sit down with your parents to make sure that you understand those official rules, and what you can and cannot do when you are on this site. To help you go through the official rules, we wrote up this summary of the things we want to make sure you understand:

Using the Site

If you use this site, that means that you understand these rules, and are agreeing to follow them. Things change, including these rules. The new and most recent version will always be posted here.

YTV has created this website for you to enjoy. You can play with and use the material on thebigrip.com, but you cannot take material from the site and sell, copy, upload, post or distribute it (for example, copying and pasting stuff from our site onto your own personal web site).

YTV sometimes provides links to other websites. Those sites are owned and run by other companies, and YTV cannot promise that they are safe. You should always use caution whenever accessing a website, including those to which we link.

Giving Things to Us

YTV likes to hear from you. We do not, however, accept or consider any creative ideas or suggestions unless we have specifically asked for them. Anything sent to us, by email, snail mail, fax, etc. - such as messages, files, artwork, comments, suggestions or other ideas - may be used by YTV in any way that we want - forever. That means that anything you submit to the website belongs to YTV. So please, do not give us anything unless we specifically ask for it!

Using Our Forums

YTV is proud to offer interactive features on our site, including message boards and chat rooms (for the sake of simplicity, we're going to refer to all of these as the "forums"). We think our forums are great, and will try to keep them up as long as we can. But, sometimes things cannot last forever, and we cannot promise you that a forum will always be active, or that information that you put on a forum will always be there.

Also, like with most things in life, you can use the forums only if you follow the rules (and if you are under 13, only if we received consent directly from your parents). The rules are:

  1. You may not stop anyone else from using the forums.
  2. You may not put up or say anything mean or obscene in a forum.
  3. You may not steal stuff from others and put it on a forum.
  4. You may not submit anything that could potentially cause the forum to be corrupted, like a virus.
  5. You may not try to sell things on the forum.
  6. You may not give anyone else your username or password.

Remember that information posted in forums is being posted by users just like you. The information may not be true, and although we try to screen out all violations, it may be in violation of these rules. If you see something that you think isn't right, send us an email to membership@thebigrip.com.

Playing The Games

  1. You may not take advantage of a bug, glitch or game oversight in order to increase your level, experience points, creds or game status.
    How we deal with it:
Sometimes this is not done on purpose so we do keep that in mind. We will most likely give you a warning unless it's clear that you've taken advantage and have tried to hide it or have taken advantage of the glitch over and over and over again. If that's the case, we could suspend or delete your account.

  2. You may not use a third-party software program in the game.
    How we deal with it:
We take a look at what you were trying to do with the program. We may suspend or delete your account without warning.

  3. You may not hack or change the data that goes from us to you or from you to us- or even data between other players- to gain an advantage in the game. Don't mess with the data.
    How we deal with it:
If you've been tampering with data we take a good look at what you were up to. We may suspend your account without warning and if it's really bad we may have to let authorities know. This means the cops, yeah...it's serious stuff.

  4. You may not communicate about a bug, glitch or game oversight that can increase your level, experience points, creds or game status on The Big Rip Forums or externally on interactive forums. Please report any bugs or game oversights to The Big Rip via the Contact Us page.
    How we deal with it:
Most of the time we catch those posts before they go live on the boards but we also realize that players might not know it's a glitch. So we do take that into consideration. When you post about a glitch that other players take advantage of, it really takes the fun out of the game. We're active about scanning the internet for mentions of our game on other forums. If we find that a player is always trying to post about a glitch either on our boards or somewhere else, we will notify the player and let them know it's not cool. We may suspend or delete an account, but only in extreme cases.

  5. You may not trade or auction your items, creds or accounts for real world money, items or items in third-party games.
    How we deal with it:
If we find out that this has been happening to your account we will suspend or delete your account. We may also suspend or delete accounts in our game that you've illegally traded with.

Sometimes we have to take our games down to do maintenance work on them. Most of the time we will give you a warning, but there may be times when we don't notify you beforehand. We may also change the gameplay in our games. Most of the time we fill you in on what we're up to on the message boards under Information and Announcements, but we could change gameplay without warning. We also like to take a look at player activity. We do this to make improvements to our games, but we may also choose to provide this non-personally identifiable information to third-parties.

Breaking the Rules
If you break the rules, YTV may block you from the site or site features, or may adjust or delete your account entirely. If there is any disagreement about what these Rules mean or how they apply to you, the laws of the Province of Ontario and Canada, as applicable will apply.
