The Case of the Stolen Prize (an old 1 but a good 1)

Chapter one

The crime!

 

It was a cool day on Therma only 64^oC, and for Detective K’zzea it was about to heat up. Chief Ym_Sneakerboy had just called her in off the Crunch beat.

            “Hey Chief Sneakerboy what’s up? Why did you call me in?” Detective K’zzea said as she sat down on the tunofa in front of the chief’s desk. “I just about had that rogue cruncher on Therma.” She ranted.

            “We’ve got an 8-12 at Luma’s apodment complex.” Sneakerboy said with disbelief looking up from behind his desk. “Someone stole Smartguy52’s Honeycomb Yellow Beematorium.”

            Whoa, really chief! We haven’t had a theft in what 11, 12 years now.” K’zzea exclaimed jumping up from the tunofa. “I’ll get right on it chief Sneakerboy.”

            “Wait just a moment Detective!” Sneakerboy called after her as she made her way out of his office. “Take Mickey13 with you, and don’t lose him this time! The kids got to learn sometime.”

            “Yeah yeah yeah Sneakerboy, I’ll take my shadow.” K’zzea calls back at the chief, “It’s not my fault the kid gets lost teleplanting.” She mutters under her breath.

            “I heard that!” Sneakerboy shouts after her. “And detective K’zzea IT’S STILL YM_SNEAKERBOY TO YOU!”

            Detective K’zzea and Jr. Detective Mickey13 stepped into Smartguy52’s pod and looked around, the place seemed in order except by the garden door where yellow crime tape was strung about an empty space.

            “Mickey13 remember to take notes.” K’zzea said as she started to pace about the pod.

            “Sure K, but what are you looking for?” Mickey13 asks as he pulls out his notebook.

“For clues of course, you never know what the thief my have over looked.” K’zzea said scanning the pod. “The Mail Box!” she exclaimed suddenly turning to face it.

             “What about the mail box?” Mickey13 asks.

            “Smartguy52’s box has mail in it,” K’zzea explains. “We may have suspects or at least witnesses. Go through the mail and make a list of those that left mail today.”

            “Right K.” Mickey13 said as he heads toward the box. “But what are you going to be doing?”

            “I’m going to interview our victim.” K’zzea answers heading toward the garden door. “The uniforms still have him in the garden; meet me in there when you are done with the mail.”

            “Yes sir!” Mickey13 answers as Detective K’zzea enters the garden.

            “You can wait inside now officers.” Detective K’zzea said to the pair of patrol officers that were standing guard on either side of the garden door as she approached Smartguy52 who was tending to one his Acycalylae plants. “Smartguy52, I’m Detective K’zzea with the Galaxseeds police force me and my partner Jr. Detective Mickey13 are handing your case. I’m sorry about the wait, but I need you to tell me what happened.” She asked, “Can you do that for me?”

            Smartguy52 looked up from his Acycalylae, “what ever you need to know, I’ll tell you just get back my Beematorium. It’s one of two ever made.”

            “Ok, why don’t we start with you telling me what happened.” K’zzea said taking out her own notebook.

            “well I when out this afternoon about 1235 hours to play Hive N’ Crunch, I had just feed my plants so I new I had almost an hour before I had to be back.” Smartguy52 explained, “And when I got back at about 1315 to check on them it was gone!”

            “So you were gone only 40 minutes.” K’zzea asked, “Did you see anyone hanging around when you were leaving?”

            “Sure Dark_Charizard was dropping off a flower coloreon; you can only get the pink ones on Sub-Terra. We take turns bringing each other thing from our local garden shops to cut back on travel costs” Smartguy52 explains “I’m suppose to bring him a Jester Get-up next week when I go on my shopping trip to Sub-Terrra.”

            “We will contact Dark_Charizard and see what he has to say.” K’zzea said writing down his name in her book. “Anything else?”

            “Steelekid was leaving when I got home, but he comes over all the time.” Smartguy52 said shaking his head, “He just likes to see what I have done in my garden and trade seeds. We even waved at each other.”

            “Now I know this next question maybe hard to answer but I want you to think about it long and hard. Do you have enemies?” K'zzea asks seeing Mickey13 enter the garden “Maybe someone you beat one to many times at Hive N’ Crunch or Fallin’ Pollen?”

            “Detective K’zzea!” Mickey13 calls out approaching the two of them, “I’ve got that list you asked for. There were three delivers made today.”

            “Well let’s hear them.” K’zzea asks

            “Dark_Charizard left a coloreon, Dragongx9 Lavae and Steelekid left a seed, sir.” Mickey13 read off his list.

            “That mostly lines up with what we know already.” K’zzea said turning back to Smartguy52 and asking, “Do you know a Dragongx9?”

            “Yes, I’ve meet him before we’ve crunched each other a few times in Hive N’ Crunch games, but I don’t know him all that well.” Smartguy52 answers, “Do you think he took my Beematorium?”

            “We will have to see,” K’zzea replies “but as for my other question did you come up with any names?”

            “No, I’m afraid not.” Smartguy52 said shaking his head once again, “I just can’t think of anyone who would want to hurt me.”

            “If you think of anything else we should know just call.” K’zzea said as she signals for Mickey13 to follow. “You should have your pod back very soon.”

            “Thank you Detectives,” Smartguy52 says as they head toward the garden door “I’ll keep in touch with your office.”

            “Come on Mickey13, I want to interview our possible witnesses right away”. K’zzea informs him as she leads the way out, “but first let’s get patrol officers to the work shops to let them know to call us if any one brings in a Beematorium to get painted.”

 

 Chapter Two

The Witnesses!

 

            Detective K’zzea and Jr. Detective Mickey13 entered Steelekids’s pod, not seeing him they continued into the garden where they found him planting seeds as they approached. “Good afternoon Steelekid I’m Detective K’zzea and this is Jr. Detective Mickey13. We are investigating the theft that took place at your neighbours this afternoon.” K’zzea explained.

            “Yes, I heard there was something going on next door. News travels fast on a small planet like Luma.” Steelekid said turning from his seeds to greet them.

            “From Smartguys52’s report as well as from the incoming mail we know you were at the crime scene just before he came home.” K’zzea said taking out her notebook, “Can you tell us where you were this afternoon and why you were at Smartguy52’s place!”

            “I spent most of my day tending to this garden; I’m trying to make a few hundred thousand Botanickels.” Steelekid explained forcefully, “So if you must know! I was going back and forth between my pod and Luma’s garden shop!”

            “You did however drop by Smartguy52’s place! He saw you leaving as he came home!” Mickey13 demanded looking up from his own notebook “You can’t denied that you were there, you left a seed in his mailbox.”

            “Yes! I stopped by his place on my way out once. I was dropping off my new mixed uber seed, Bultulylae.” Steelekid explained “It’s a fast growing plant, however it’s only a level 1 and worth only a few hundred Botanickels. I was hoping he would give me a few pointers with it.”

            “So did you notice if the Beematorium was still in its place?” K’zzea asked changing the subject suddenly in an effort to calm them down.

            “No. It was not there, I thought he had taken it to get it painted at the work shop.” Steelekid answered, “He’s like that sometimes, he likes to change the color of his gear.”

            “So it was already missing when you came over.” K’zzea said, “Did you happen to see anyone else while you were there?” she asked probingly eyeing him.

            “Yes Pep_si_ was leaving as I entered.” Steelekid replied “but you don’t think Pep_si_ had anything to do with this? Do you?”

             Thank you for your help. We will let you know if we have anymore questions,” K’zzea said signalling for Mickey13 to follow her out. “Who’s next on the list?” she asked him as they left Steelekid’s pod.

            “Dragongx9 would be the next one since he too lives here on Luma.” Mickey13 replies reading over the address list on the apodment complex. “Its better do see him before we head to Sub-Terra where Dark_Charizard lives.”

            “Don’t worry; you won’t be teleplanting alone this time.” K’zzea whispered as they entered Dragongx9’s pod. “You have to get over your fear sometime.” She added looking around Dragongx9’s pod. They found him changing his get-up. “Excuse us for interrupting but we need to talk to you.”

            “Sure, what do you want to know?” Dragongx9 said trying on his berriet “What do you think? I just got it over on Therma; do you think I should have it painted?”

            “We have some questions we have to ask you.” K’zzea said firmly “I’m Detective K’zzea and this is Jr. Detective Mickey13. We are from the Galaxseeds Police force, and are here investigating the theft that took place here in the Luma complex.”

            “Yes, yes, News travels fast here.” Dragongx9 said, “No, I need to change the color. I wonder what I would look like in blue?”

            “You were at Smatguy52’s place this afternoon; did you happen to see his Beematorium?” K’zzea asked sating to lose her patience “we know you were there you dropped off a Lavea lamp in his mailbox”

            “No, I’m sorry I didn’t notice it, but I wasn’t looking for it.” Dragongx9 replied “but as for my delivering the Lavea, I heard he wanted anther one for someone and I happen to have an extra one I got when they were in the stores. So I passed it on to him.”

            “Did anyone see you enter Smartguy52’s pod?” Mickey13 asked taking a seat on the pofa.

            “Well let me think…” Dragongx9 paused “Yes, well, maybe. They were leaving.”

“Who did you see then as you were entering?” K’zzea prompted him.

            “UltimateX and RangerX were leaving together as I entered.” Dragongx9 replied “but that’s all I saw while I was there. I left as soon as I delivered my Lavea.”

            “Where did you go afterwards?” K’zzea asked

            “I took the Teleplanter to Therma to get this berriet.” Dragongx9 said looking once more at his berriet. “Maybe green would be a better colour than blue.”

            “Thank you for your help.” K'zzea said moving out the door. “Come on Mickey13 let’s see what Dark_Charizard has to say.”

             “I told you there is nothing to it; you can’t live your whole life on Luma.” K’zzea told Mikey13 after seeing him arrive on Sub-Terra safely.

            “Yes, boss” Mickey13 replied weekly as they walk to wards the apodment complex, “so do you think Dragongx9 took it he didn’t say if he saw it or not.”

            “I don’t know at this point.” K’zzea answered “but he seemed to busy with his own stuff to notice anything else. Let alone notice if it was gone. I want to see you take the lead on this one.” She continued after a moment.

            “Why?” Mickey13 asked as they arrived outside the complex.

            “Because if I don’t make you try, Sneakerboy will never let me hear the end of it and I will be stuck with you for ever.” K’zzea Exclaimed “Plus I suppose to be teaching you. Now let’s go in!”

            “Excuse me, Dark_Charizard! I’m Jr. Detective Mickey13 and this is my partner Detective K’zzea,” Mickey13 said approaching Dark_Charizard. “We are with the Galaxseeds police force and we need to ask you a few questions about your whereabouts today.”

            “Sure, have a seat on the chairs” Dark_Charizard said leading them over to the visiona where the chairs are, “Can I get you anything to drink?”

            “No we are fine.” K’zzea replies as Dark_Charizard sits down on the pofa to join them.

            “Now I understand that you visited Smartguy52’s pod this afternoon around 1253 hours. Can you tell us why you were there?” Mickey13 asked taking out his notebook.

            “Sure, it’s no surprise that I was there. I was dropping off the coloreon he had me pick up for him.” Dark_Charizard said looking up from his drink, “Why do you what to know? What is this all about?”

            “I’m afraid you friend was robbed this afternoon and his Beematorium was stolen.” Mickey13 said, “Where did you go after you dropped off the coloreon?”

            “I went to Luma’s Garden center to pick up a few Slimusses then I went to the Gear shop to see what they had in stock.” Dark_Charizard answered.

            “And after that?” K’zzea asked.

            “I went and played Fallin’ Pollen with some friends on Luma, we don’t have a big population her on Sub-Terra.” Dark_Charizard answered, “Do you want some names?”

            “That would be helpful; I’ll get them from you when we are done.” Mickey13 said. “When you were at Smarguy52’s place did you see his Beematorium?”

            “Yes, he always keeps it by the garden door, it was there.” Dark_Charizard said.

            “How about other people? Did you see any others enter his pod while you were there?” Mickey13 asked.

            “No, no one came in while I was there.” Dark_Charizard said.

            “How long do you think you were there?” K’zzea asked looking right at him.

            “Oh only about a minute at most I have been really busy today and I want to get a chance to play with my friends and did not want to be late.” Dark_Charizard answered.

            “Thank you so much for all your help, if you can get me a list of those name now,” Mickey13 said getting up “we will be on our way.”

            “I’ll meet you out side Mickey13.” K’zzea said heading out the door.

             A few moments later Mickey rejoined K’zzea who was pacing outside the complex. “You got the list of names? K’zzea inquired “Cause first thing in the morning I want you to take a patrol officer with you and track down those names.”

             “You realizes that may mean I’ll have to teleplant all over the place!” Mickey13 said grimacing “of course you did. And what are you going to be doing?” He asked.

            “I’ll get some uniforms to check in with the shops on Luma.” K’zzea explained smiling “and set up interviews with UltimateX, RangerX and Pep_si_ for in the afternoon.”

 

 Chapter Three

Suspects!

 

            “How’d your interviews go this morning?” K’zzea asked as Mickey13 entered the bullpen of the police station where Detective K’zzea was sitting at her desk.

            “I’ve confirmed that Dark_Charizard was at the Fallin’ Pollen game on Luma from 1300 hours to 1330 hours.” Mickey13 said as he sat down at his our desk across from K’zzea. “Both TheSithLord and S4d0s said he was playing the whole time. In fact,” he added with a smirk TheSithLord was upset because she was beating 3 times in a row.”

            “That’s good because Ray Enshin say’s he remembers both Dark_Charizard and Steelekid being at the Garden shop yesterday afternoon.” K’zzea said looking down at some papers on her desk. “In fact Steelekid was coming in like clockwork all day, so he’s in the clear.”

            What about Dark_Charizard at the Gear shop did that checkout too?” Mickey13 inquirers.

            “Yes, Pax Furny said he came in and looked over some gear, but in the end he didn’t buy anything.” K’zzea answered, “Plus he left just before 1300 hours.”

            “So between being at the Garden & Gear shops and the witnesses that confirm that he was playing Fallin’ Pollen Dark_Charizard’s story checks out too.” Mickey13 said. “What about Dragongx9’s story?”

            “He’s a bit sketchy at this point, I haven’t heard back from Therma’s Get-up shop,” K’zzea replied “plus he didn’t say if he saw the Beematorium.”

            “K’zzea, Mickey13, how’s the beematorium case going?” Chief Ym_Sneakerboy called sticking his head out of his office in to the bullpen. “I’ve got reporters calling in wanting a statement. I need to tell them something.”

            “Were on it chief, we’ve cleared two seedizens already and were on our way out to interview three more.” K’zzea hollered back.

            “Just get to it!” Sneakerboy shouted back at them, “This is causing a panic and people are started to say it was spaceticides.”

            “Come on Mickey13 our first stop is Therma’s apodment complex and Pep_si_.” K’zzea says heading out the door.

            “Ohh dear!” Mickey13 mumbles, “Which thermaplanter site do I have to go to this time?” he adds.

            “Thermaplanter 2.” K’zzea laughs as she leads the way.

            “Thanks, it’s nice to be in some proper heat.” K’zzea said as Pep_si_ lead them into her pod.

            “I know what you mean; I can’t wait to get home after I’ve been on Luma or Strata.” Pep_si_ said, “So you said this was bout yesterday afternoon Detective K’zzea”

            “Yes I’m sure you hear about the theft and you were spotted leaving Smartguy52’s pod right around the time it disappeared.” K’zzea said

            “Oh sure I was there and now that you mention it,” Pep_si_ paused for a moment in thought “The Beematorium was not there.”

            “What time did you arrive at Smartguy52’s pod?” Mickey13 asked.

            “Umm… I was in the middle of a game of Hive N’ Crunch, so about 1300 hours.” Pep_si_ answered.

            “Why were you there?” K’zzea prompted him.

            “I went to Luma to track down Namm_Killazilla who was hiding in one of Luma’s pods,” Pep_si_ explained “but while I was checking out Smartguy52’s pod and Garden Mai_lover came in after me and she crunched me and left.” He added.

            “Where were you before you left Therma?” Mickey13 asked looking up from his notebook.

            “I was at home. I didn’t leave Therma till just before 1300 hours.” Pep_si_ said.

            “And you saw Steelekid arrive at Smartguy52’s place just as you were leaving?” K’zzea inquired.

            “Yes. I saw him inside Smartguy52’s place.” Pep_si_ replied.

            “Well thank you for your help. We’ll let you know if there is anything more.” K’zzea said as they left Pep_si_’s pod. “Add Mai_lover and Namm_Killzilla to the list of people we need to track down. Now onto Strataplanter 1 and the Strata apodment complex.” K’zzea said walking away from Therma's complex. “When we get there let’s split up and you visit RangerX and I’ll take UltimateX. That way we can see if there story’s match up after.”

            “Ok, on to Strata.” Mickey13 sighed.

            “RangerX I’m Jr. Detective Mickey13 with the Galaxseeds police force, my partner called you this morning.” Mickey13 said as he entered RangerX’s pod.

            “Yes that’s right a Detective said that either she or her partner would be by today.” RangerX said inviting the detective in.

            “Good I’ll begin then.” Mickey13 said. “You were at Smatguy52’s place yesterday afternoon.” he continued, “do you now what time that was?”

            “I’d say about 1245.” RangerX answered.

            “Why were you there?” Mickey13 asked.

            “Oh, I was playing Hive n’ Crunch and UltimateX chased me into the complex” RangerX explained, “he followed me and we crunched each other inside. Then we left together.”

            “Did you see Smartguy52’s Beematorium?” Mickey13 asked.

            “Yes. It was sitting just to the right of his garden door.” RangerX replied.

            “Did you see anyone as you were leaving?” Mickey13 asked.

            “Yes I saw Dragongx9 enter as we left.” RangerX answered.

            “What did you do after you left Smartguy52’s pod?” Mickey 13 asked writing in his notebook again.

            “I was out of the game so I went to the Garden shop to pick up a shipment of power showers for my garden.” RangerX said “Then I went home to Strata.”

“What time do you think you got home?” Mickey13 asked.

“I think I was back at about 1300 hours.” RangerX answered.

“Thank you very much. I’ll call if we have anymore questions for you.” Mickey13 said putting away his notebook while heading towards the door.

            “Good afternoon UltimateX.” K’zzea said as she greeted him at his door. “Like I said earlier when I called I have some questions about your whereabouts yesterday afternoon.”

            “No problem. Yesterday I was playing Hive N’ Crunch all day, so I was well… everywhere.” UltimateX said as they sat down on his layofa, “Sorry that’s no help.”

            “You did chase RangerX into Smartguy52’s pod on Luma?” K’zzea asked.

            “Hey, yes I did.” UltimateX exclaimed remembering, “I chased him in there and we both crunched each other.”

            “What time would you say that was?” K’zzea said.

            “Oh I’d say 1250ish, but I’m not sure it could have been later.” UltimateX replied.

            “Did you happen to see the missing Beematorium?” K’zzea asked.

            “Yes, I saw it, did you know I all most won it too.” UltimateX said “But in the end Smartguy52 beat me, and Garon go the Honeycomb Red one.”

            “So were you mad that he got the prize?” K’zzea inquired.

            “Ah, no. he won it fair and square. I’ve gotten my share of other prizes.” UltimateX explained, “In fact that is why I was playing yesterday, the weekly prize this week is a rare Honeycomb Yellow libria.” He said getting excited “I might just get it to if I can beat Ntown tomorrow.”

            “Did you see anyone else beside RangerX inside Smartguy52’s pod before you left?” K’zzea asked trying to trap him.

            “When we were leaving Dragongx9 arrived, but that’s all.” UltimateX answered.

            “Alright just one more thing could you give me a few names of some of the people you were playing against in the afternoon after you left Smartguy52’s pod” K’zzea asked getting out her notebook.

            “Sure, let’s see there was Garon, Oobleck, Caped_Crusander, Coolthan, Mai_lover and Smartguy52 himself.” UltimateX said thinking, “I can’t think of any of the others but there were more, Smartguy52 might be able to give you some more names, we had at least two games together.” he added.

            “Thanks that will help” K’zzea said getting up and heading to the door.

            “I hope you find Smartguy52’s Beematorium, he’s a good friend.” UltimateX called out the door, “and please give him my condolences.”

            Mickey13 was waiting outside the complex when K’zzea left UltimateX’s place. “So what do you got?” she asked as they slowly made their way towards the teleplanter.

            “RangerX claims that the Beematorium was there,” Mickey13 told Detective K’zzea. “And that after he and UltimateX left he went to the Garden shop first then went home.”

            “UltimateX said the same thing about the Beematorium but he kept playing Hive N’ Crunch all afternoon.” K’zzea said, “as soon as I call the names he gave me, and if it all checks out he’ll be in the clear. You” she continued “can call Ray Enshin when we get back to the station and get him to confirm RangerX’s alibi too.”

            “Yes boss” Mickey13 said looking at the teleplanter in front of him grimly. “Let’s go!”

  

Chapter Four

Alibis!

 

            They had been back at Galaxseeds police headquarters for an hour now, and were slowly making progress. “RangerX Capital R, a, n, g, e, r, Capital X.” Mickey13 said over the Phone to Ray Enshin at Luma’s Garden shop, “Yes, Yesterday afternoon sometime after 1245 hours” he continued “yes on Luma. Are you sure? He said he picked up an order of power showers.” He pauses, “Yes get back to me.”

            “What did you get?” K’zzea asked looking across their desks at him.

            “Ray Enshin is checking his records for Strata as well in case RangerX went home to strata first.” Mickey13 said hanging up the phone. “How did you make out on your calls?”

            “UltimateX’s alibi checks out cleanly.” K’zzea said “he was definitely playing Hive N’ Crunch all day.”

            “What about Pep_si_ and Dragongx9 alibi’s where are we with them?” Mickey13 asked.

            “When confirming UltimateX’s alibi, I checked out Pep_si_’s and she too was playing Hive N’ crunch.” K’zzea explained “Mai_lover confirmed that in one game she did entered Smartguy52`s pod in order to crunch Pep_si_. But she left before Pep_si_.”

            “So Mai_lover confirmed that the Beematorium was gone when Pep_si_ was there, at least as far as she saw.”Mickey13 said

            “That’s part of the problem” K’zzea said explaining “According to what we know UltimateX and RangerX were the last ones to see the Beematorium. And that was at 1250 hours.”

            “I see” Mickey13 continued “and Pep_si_ was the first one at 1300hours to claim it was gone”

            “So if Pep_si_ is telling the truth and it was gone when he entered we have a 10 minute window, K’zzea said, “Five of witch Dragongx9 was in the room. Yes and somehow I don’t think Dragongx9 took it,” she continued shaking her head “The guy didn’t even notice it. And we know it was there from what RangerX and UltimateX said.”

            “So with that 5 minute window between when dragongx9 was there and Pep_si_ showed up it was taken” Mickey13 determined.

            “Let’s get both Pep_si_ and Dragongx9 brought in to the station I want to ask them some more questions.” K’zzea tells him.

            “Alright I’ll get some Patrol officers to track them down and bring them in.” Mickey13 said getting up from his desk.

            “Dragongx9 I want you to think hard” K’zzea said sitting across from him in the empty interrogation pod. “Do you remember seeing the Beematorium? Because right now it looks like you took it.” She continued as she stared him down.

            “I don’t know, It must have been there” Dragongx9 said weekly “I just don’t remember it.”

            “Let’s go over this one more time what time did you arrive at Smartguy52’s pod?” K’zzea demanded

            “I’d say it was 1250 hours, Dragongx9 answered, “UltimateX and RangerX were leaving ask them.”

            “You Stayed how long” K’zzea asked.

            “5 minutes at the most I was busy.” Dragongx9 answered.

            “And where did you go after?” K’zzea asked.

            “I went to the teleplanter and on to Therma.” Dragongx9 answered

            “And what time did you get to Therma?” K’zzea asked.

            “I’d say about 1258 hours, I went straight there.” Dragongx9 answered

            “Then where did you go?” K’zzea asked.

            “I when to Therma’s get-up shop,” Dragongx9 answered “I got there about 1303 to answer you next question.”

            “Thank you, I’ll be back in a bit to let you know when you can leave.” K’zzea said getting up from the chair and leaving to meet Mickey13 who was waiting out side the door.

            “Well what do you think?”Mickey13 asked

            “I think it is time to talk to Pep_si_,” K’zzea said moving to another interrogation pod door. “Watch again through the one way mirror.”

            “Detective K’zzea what is this about?” Pep_si_ asked as K’zzea came in to the room. “Your patrol officers showed up at my pod and demanded that I come with them. They wouldn't tell me what this was about.”

            “This about Yesterday!” K’zzea told him as she sat her self down across from him, “What time did you arrive at Smartguy52’s place?”

            “1300 hours.” Pep_si_ replied calmly.

            “And when did you arrive on Luma?” K’zzea asked sharply.

            “Only a few minutes before” Pep_si_ answered “I’d say I’d left Therma at 1256 hours so I’d have been on Luma at 1257.”

            “Did you happen to see any one at the teleplanter?” K’zzea asks remembering what Dragongx9 had said a moment ago.

            “Sure Dragongx9 was leaving as I was arriving,” Pep_si_ replied “I even waved at him, but I don’t think he saw me.”

            “What time did you leave Smartguy52’s pod?” K’zzea asked

            “1310 hours, I sign up for another game of Hive N’ Crunch before I left his place.” Pep_si_ explained.

            “Thank you Pep_si_ you have helped clear a few things up.” K’zzea said getting up and heading to the door

            “So dragongx9 and Pep_si_ were both at the teleplanter when the robbery occurred,” Mickey13 said as they met out side the door. “Where dose that leave us?”

            “It leaves us lost.” K’zzea mutters “and without a lead. Have them let go.”

            “Sure.” Mickey13 said “but you know if there were people coming and going all day the only one that was leaving about the same time was Steelekid. He was one his way to the garden shop about that time.”

            “Your right!” K’zzea exclaimed running down the hall to the stations exit. “Come on Steelekid might not have been in Smartguy52’s pod but he must have seen someone entering the complex at the right time and not even know he’d seen the thief.

“So do you remember seeing any one entering the complex between 1255 hours and 1300 hours?” K’zzea asked Steelekid as they sat in his pod. “I want you to think real hard.”

“Yes there were a few people outside of the pod at that time but only RangerX went in.” Steelekid said, “I remember because I had seen him earlier and was going to ask him about his pilnafulis plants. I wanted to get some seed from him.”

“Really are you sure you saw him at that time.” Mickey13 asked, “He was at the complex earlier, he left with UltimateX.”

“No I’m sure it was then.” Steelekid said firmly “UltimateX was not with him either.”

“Thanks Steelekid you may have just broke this case.” K’zzea said getting up to leave.

“I’m just glad I could help.” Steelekid added as he saw the detectives out the door.

Outside the Luma apodment, complex Mickey13 turned to K’zzea and said, “I never did confirm his alibi for yesterday. I have a feeling that he never did go to the Garden shop.”

“I believe you are right on that.” K’zzea13 said, “Let’s go have a talk with RangerX down at the station. And while he’s there lets have his pod searched.” She added.

“Well have the offices finished searching his pod?” K’zzea asks as Chief Ym_Sneakerboy joins him at the window to the interrogation pod. “He’s sating to get fidgety in there.”

“Yes they just go back and have found nothing.” Sneakerboy said, “You’ll have to crack him your self. And find out where he stashed it.”

“That might not be too hard now that we know that he’s alibi is phoney, and he picked up the Power showers according to Ray Enshin on Therma.” K’zzea explained, “We know he when there, it’s now a matter of searching Therma for witnesses to place him there.”

“Well get in there.” Sneakerboy told him point to the door. “I’ll watch with Mickey13 from here.”

K’zzea walked slowly into the room and around RangerX who was sitting on a chair at the table. “Where did you say you picked op your power showers again? She asked calmly.

“I told you I got them on Luma.” RangerX said defiantly.

“Are you sure you didn’t go home to Strata first?” K’zzea asked, “Maybe you got the events mixed up.”

“Told you I was on Luma!” RangerX insisted, “I had just gotten crunched by UltimateX and was out of the game.”

“Give it up RangerX! We asked Ray Enshin at the Garden shop he said you never came to the Garden shop on Luma.” K’zzea said staring him down. “The only Garden shop you visited that day was on Therma.”

“So it was Therma not Luma so what.” RangerX said trying to blow off his mix up.

“Not only that, but you were at the Garden shop not around 1255 hours like you’d said” K’zzea shouted at him, “but way later at 1330 a full 35 minuets after you said you were. Why were you on Therma?” she asked staring him down “you know it wont take us long to find out where you were that day. Therma is a very small and tight knit clan.”

“I stole it all right,” RangerX, confessed, “I left it in Appowee’s mail box. The guy’s been away for the last week.”

“What were you planning to do with it?” K’zzea asked sitting down across from him, “It will go easier on you if you tell us now. We will find out!”

“Never, you can’t protect me from him.” RangerX said quietly “If he finds out I gave you his name you’ll never see me again.”

K’zzea got up and headed out the door, “well Chief what do you think?”

“I don’t think you’ll ever get that name out of him.” Sneakerboy said looking thought the glass at RangerX “You can tell he’s just to frighten to tell us who made him take it. Will get the Beematorium back and return it to Smartguy52, and keep an eye on RangerX. Maybe with out knowing he’ll lead us to the master mind.”

“Well cased closed I guess.” Mickey13 said as he closed his notebook.

“Good I can get back to caching that rogue Cruncher on Therma.” K’zzea said with a smile as she head down the hall.

“Sorry Detective K’zzea I’ve got a bigger case for you and Mickey13.” Chief Ym_Sneakerboy said laughing, “We’ve got a rash of seed thefts on Sub-Terra and after the Teepeeing that was going on there last month they want a senior detective on the case.”

“Do I have to take him with me again?” K’zzea groaned as Mickey13 Followed her out the door.

Wow! Awesome story! I was like hooked on it all the way until the end. But the people and events happened in the old galaxseeds, so it existed before too?
